Undertale: Megadragon Battle Screen -redone-

Description

(Redone: 4/9/16 Posted: 4/11/16)

I thought I'd make a redo of Megadragon's battle screen, including turning her from black to white. Before you fight her you see she's black anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Basically I wasn't sure what to do with her stats so this is a 'screenshot' of if you choose to Check her. The only commentary you get on it is that she's a dragon and to avoid her fire? They say this because that fire actually has ice properties to it.

------

Monster Description:

Location: Ice Caves (somewhere near Snowdin Woods area)

Check Screen:

Name: Megara Pendragon (Megadragon)

HP: 2500

ATK: 70

DEF: 80

* A real live dragon...Avoid its fiery breath?

EXP on Kill: 0

Gold On Win: 0

Battle Theme: (To be announced)

-----

Attacks:

Ice Fire, Icicle Drop, Dragon Dash, Rain of Fire

Ice Fire: Her first attack after your first move. She breathes turquoise flames down at you, sweeping across the battle box and turning it to ice which then goes invisible while your Soul turns turquoise. This forces your Soul to the bottom of the battle box and prevents you from being able to jump. You also slide a bit on the icy bottom.

Icicle Drop: Megadragon bangs her tail on the ground, causing icicles to fall from the top of the battle box. Slide around to avoid them.

Dragon Dash: A tiny version of Megadragon (like Migosp and the dogs) will appear on the battle screen and fly above your Soul. She will fly at the top, then the middle, then closer to the bottom all while shooting little fireballs down toward your Soul.

Rain of Fire: Like Icicle Drop, turquoise fireballs rain down toward you but multiple at a time, causing the screen to shake. This attack melts the ice enough for you to dodge without slipping around so much.

ACT Options:

* Riddle: You tell Megadragon a riddle. She nods and tells you she knows this one well.

* Challenge: You challenge Megadragon to make her attacks harder (This increases her attack power)

* Joke: You tell Megadragon a joke about skeletons, since you couldn't think of anything else.

* Bargain: You offer Megadragon something in your ITEMS.

(Like all Boss Battles, you can only use these moves a few times before it says ACTing will not further this battle. At least giving you a chance to see each of the flavor text dialogues and her responses.)

-Dialogue-

ACT:

"Let's put this battle on ice shall we?" (Before using her special move)

"Riddle me this, human!" (After you tell her a riddle)

"As you wish." (After you challenge her)

"You would get along well with those boneheads!" (After telling her a joke)

"You have nothing I would want, human." (After trying to bargain)

SPARE:

-"A human refusing to fight? How unusual. And foolish."

-"Do not pretend your innocence, human."

-"You cannot fool me twice, child! I KNOW who you are!"

-"You may have taken my blade, but you shall not take anything else from me."

-After she stops attacking but you keep sparing-

-"....Why do you insist on your innocence?"

-"If you will not fight...Then why are you here?"

-"Surely you are here for the treasure?"

-"No? I see...Do pardon my assumptions."

* Megadragon is SPARING you.

------

FIGHT:

-"Foolish choice, human!"

-"*growls and snorts frost from her nostiles*

-"I have fought stronger humans than you."

-"*growls and snorts frost breath from her nostrils*

-KILL-

(Depending on when you fight her depends on her dialogue and appearance)

When you fight her after you've killed everyone in the Underground, including Sans, there will be nothing between you and her but a long pathway into her cave where she waits. Before your battle:

"I have been expecting you, human...You truly wish to empty the Underground don't you? Well, let us not stall the inevitable. I am ready when you are."

Talk to her again and she will begin the battle with "Very well. Let us see who the true monster is now."

The Kill: When her HP reaches its end she will go wide-eyed like the rest of the Story Monsters and fall forward a bit, struggling to stay standing. She'll then look at you, recognition on her face.

"Now I know....Who you are...." She'll say in a somewhat weakened voice, "Even...In death...you will not let me be..." She then chuckles, "Human...You do not realize...The true weight of what you have just done...I hope...You SUFFER for this..."

If you beat her by FIGHTing her in a Neutral Route run:

"Just as I thought...All humans are the same...Fine. Take your treasure, thief...It didn't stop you the first time..."

She then collapses completely both times...but oddly does not turn to dust. The battle screen fades and your character sprite is standing in front of Megadragon lying on the cave floor. This implies you either haven't killed her or that she wasn't actually a Monster. It's not revealed which is the truth, but if you leave the room and return, Megadragon is gone. However, the treasure she spoke of is there. It turns out to be something called the "Dragon Eye" and increases your own ATK and DEF when you wear it (it's like Temmie Armor but not as strong). You can get this item in either Route and it is in a wooden treasure chest, but the flavor text is different with each:

Pacifist: "You got the Dragon's Eye! This item will increase your ATK and DEF quite a bit....Why does that sound familiar?" (this is referencing "Legend of Zelda"'s way of introducing new items.)

Neutral: "Was it worth it?" (If you kill her)

No Mercy: "You could put this to more use than she could anyway."

--------

After the battle Megadragon will apologize again for the misunderstanding and invite you to come back for tea and muffins later. That will be her 'Date'.

If you come back she will reveal some information to you, whatever you want to ask her about, while you wait for the muffins to finish baking. You can ask her about any of the main characters but depending on how far along you are in the story will depend on if she says a lot or a little. Even then she will reveal little about Sans. If you ask about her she'll reveal she was around before the War and a bit about her life Underground, but nothing much until the end of the game.

At the end of the game after beating Asriel, she will call you on your phone (having given you her number after you hang out with her) and tell you to come by her cave before you leave the Underground (knowing about what you did and the barrier breaking) for a final chat if you'd like. This is a hint that she can give a lot more information depending on what you've uncovered. If you return she will tell you a bit more about [Player's Name] and Asriel Dreemur. If you ask more about her she'll also have more options on what to ask about herself, revealing a bit more about her. She also reveals how she knows each of the main characters.

During the game if you decide to visit her cave sooner rather than later, she'll also have something to say on each area you're in, like Papyrus and Undyne do. She'll do this even if you have been in that area already, but if it's an area Sans or one of the other main characters WAS in but isn't anymore, there won't be much said. So it's good to befriend her early on if you want all the flavor text she'll give.

-----

I haven't decided on all her quirks. I might have to roleplay the Player meeting her or something to figure it out and see if she's likable enough like the rest of the characters are. Like all the characters, I want it to be tough for at least most of you guys to kill her after befriending her in the Pacifist route before you Reset. If she knows about Resets as well...That's also not known.

I assume this is just an image, not a playable fangame of any sort. That would probably be too good to be true :) Nice work whatever the case!
