Saria: Don't worry, I'm sure things'll look up for you eventually.

Vale: ...I think you're TOO optimistic.

....

Ok in all honesty, I have no idea what his response to Saria's words would have been. XD I mean that seemed most accurate considering he grew up in a semi-apocalyptic era where Purple Dragons are considered evil monsters. Confused? Let me explain:

I recently came across this really cool Legend of Spyro related comic called "Pure Light". After reading what was written so far I have come to the conclusion thus far, that Validor (Vale for short) is a pretty cool character (pun intended XD...Cause he's an ice dragon by blood technically...Get it? *shot* XP). See I'm usually suspicious and skeptical about most fan characters of the Legend of Spyro fandom because sometimes they are disappointingly dull and make no sense. Vale is not one of these characters.

During chapter 1 I got a good first impression of him. And the creator of the comic gives a good, fitting, and appropriate story of what kind of world he lives in, why Purple Dragons are 'evil', and how he's managed to stay alive in this time when he was supposedly destroyed as an egg (obviously that's explained too). So point is, this is a very unique (to the fandom anyway) plot for a Purple Dragon character and I actually wanted to draw him with my first ever Legend of Spyro character, Saria.

As you can see I've updated her design a bit. Making her darker purple and giving her fins behind her cheek spikes (and no they are not ears). The reason for that will be revealed later (though the mark on her shoulder should give some clues). Anyway though, I wanted to draw her and Vale. Both are purple dragons though they lead very different lives (I'm still working on Saria's improved story though).

Originally Saria was going to be an adult in her story, in a time of war herself but reluctant to take up her responsibility. Now I think she'll have been raised away from other dragons by her mother, her behavior fitting a more feral dragon but still maintaning proper English. I'm still working on it.

Anyway, like I said. Saria and Vale in the same picture (in the grey zone. XD *shot*) talking. Saria does seem a bit too optimistic though honestly. Of course she'd have to have been there in order for her to truly understand.
